Plant Technician

The Plant Technician will have responsibilities working with outside plant for locating underground facilities, including tracking and handling the administration of cable locate orders, assisting the mapping department with changes and updates to plant records, monitoring the work of outside contractors to protect NITCO's underground facilities from being cut; assisting the construction department with placing and maintaining cable via underground conduit system; placing direct buried cable by operating heavy equipment for plowing, digging and trenching, using hand shovels and other hand tools during labor intensive work activities; installing and removing aerial cable, including installation of messenger strands and transfer of cable and equipment from old poles to new poles; setting and use of pole truck and digging and bracing equipment. The Plant Technician may also be required to flag traffic at worksites. This position will expand duties to meet the evolving goals of the organization.


Qualifications
  • Must have valid driver's license to be insured by company's carrier
  • Previous cable locating experience preferred by will train
  • Ability to read maps
  • Accuracy in marking cable is paramount in this position
  • Accuracy in completing paperwork
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Prior experience in operating heavy equipment preferred
  • Dependable attendance

Telephone Support - Broadband Services Technician

Serves as primary phone support for broadband users for current services offered by the Company, but not limited to, Internet, DSL, Wireless, Domain, Dial-up and VoIP by providing technical assistance and guiding the users to connect or troubleshoot their service problems; provides technical assistance within the Company to Customer Service Representatives and Field personnel as a resource for solving service problems for customers. Works with outsourced technical support to coordinate the Company's processes and ensure proper documentation of service calls with follow-up to ensure quality service to customers. .Provides technical assistance to other companies whenever changes in technology such as new devices/phones or updates such as new versions of email clients/software affect the Company's network; Tests returned modems for restock or returns to manufacturer. Analyzes call volumes to determine if a major outage has occurred and determines the source of origin; Contacts customers to assist marketing services in new serviceable territories. Keeps current with technology to provide technical support for broadband users and new services; Provides reliable solutions for cost control to the Company by reducing the amount of home visits and calls forwarded to outsourced vendor; works with other departments as needed to provide customer network solutions; May be assigned other duties as technology changes.


Qualifications
  • Highly skilled in customer service to handle difficult and frustrating situations
  • Advanced knowledge of the Windows Operating System and its components
  • Knowledge in PC software and hardware troubleshooting
  • Technical support experience required with familiarity of dial-up, wireless and DSL services.

Information Technology Technician

Installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the network, computers, servers, software, network services, and of network security measures; Test new software/features for the possibility to be deployed across the network to improve functionality, reliability, and security; upgrade existing software and meet new needs of users. Assist in testing software/features for the possibility of being deployed to the company's end users. Assist DSL installers, customer service personnel with customers' computer /internet ready device issues when needed. Maintains departmental records by creating documents, spreadsheets and reports in Word and Excel including, but not limited to, software licenses and hardware equipment for inventory; obtains quotes for departmental purchases and handles receipt of shipment; monitors internal computers for legal compliance with software licensing. Qualifications

Network Administrator

Maintains, upgrades, monitors, installs, implements, performs problem identification and resolution, and documents a wide array of communications equipment required for ISP and Telco network operations; performs these job functions across a wide range of facilities including physical media, protocol stacks, switches, routers, bridges, channel banks, broadband aggregators, xDSL IADs, VoIP gateways, border controllers, related software/hardware, and network management tools.


Qualifications
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends new computer network equipment and technologies.
  • Utilizes monitor equipment, performance analysis, network management, software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems.
  • Develops and executes contingency plans for network software and hardware failures.
  • Provides consulting, technical guidance, information and support to other departments when needed.
  • Plans and leads network initiatives.
  • Upgrading or installing new equipment in order to facilitate new requirements, technologies and network growth.
  • Collaborates with other technical staff and management in the testing of new software and technologies.
  • Manages VoIP data network
  • Bachelor Degree in Network Security preferred
  • Solid understanding of Ipv4 and Ipv6 addressing and routing.
  • Able to configure and troubleshoot exterior and interior routing protocols (OSPF & BGP)
  • Familiar with Cisco layer 2/3 switches and Cisco routers, specifically the Cisco IOS and configuration of (or equivalent competitor such as Juniper)
  • Familiar with Wireshark for the purposes of troubleshooting network problems and analyzing SIP / RTP conversations
