Job Description

NITCO is seeking a high performing and versatile Network Administrator with a focus on engineering, building, and delivering the technology that powers NITCO’s ISP and Data Transport Networks. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and passionate individual that prioritizes delivering the best user experience possible for all NITCO subscribers. In this role, the Network Administrator will be deploying and managing critical network infrastructure and must demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment with shifting project priorities.

Responsibilities:

· Manage and maintain ISP WAN equipment and circuits, and ISP LAN equipment and cabling.

· Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting WAN and LAN connectivity.

· Develop and execute contingency plans for network failures / outages.

· Provide network consulting, technical guidance, and information and support to other departments as needed.

· Plans and leads network initiatives based on current and future needs.

· Upgrading or installing new equipment to accommodate new requirements, technologies and network growth.

· Collaborates with other technical staff and management in the testing and deployment of new networking technologies and techniques.

· Performs network address assignment and keeps IP records current.

· Maintains network performance through network monitoring and performance tuning.

Position Requirements:

· Completion of a B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited College.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· 5+ years of experience working for an ISP or the equivalent Data Networking position within a traditional Telecommunications Carrier or Cable Company.

· Solid understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, switching, and routing.

· Ability to configure and troubleshoot exterior and interior routing protocols using Cisco hardware, specifically OSPF and BGP.

· Experience with Cisco hardware and their product lines, including Layer 2/3 switches, Routers and their operating environments including IOS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS.

· Experience with Wireshark for the purpose of troubleshooting network issues ranging from Layer 2 to Layer 7 of the OSI model.

· A solid understanding of and experience with deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting a passive DWDM OTN network. This includes a fundamental understanding of Fiber Optics as a communications medium.

· Capable of using Microsoft Visio for the creation and updating of network diagrams.

· Must be capable of learning new CLIs and other Management Interfaces when equipment and vendor changes are required.

· Participate in 24×7 on-call status and light travel on Company business.

· Act as the interface between NITCO and our Carrier Vendors and Partners for the purpose of resolving circuit outages, ordering new services, and disconnecting or growing existing circuits.

· Ability to lift as much as 50lbs. on occasion.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and the proven ability to work in a team environment.
