Job Description:
Assists with routine maintenance and repairs on all company vehicles and equipment, including gasoline and diesel powered engines, electrical and mechanical components, and other heavy equipment furnished by the Fleet Department under the supervision of the Sr. Mechanic and Mechanic; assists in maintaining generators for emergency back-up, power to outside and inside plant and Company facilities under the direction of the Sr. Mechanic and Mechanic; assists in maintaining records for ensuring that routine maintenance is performed on emergency backup equipment; cleans and prepares work associated with all types of vehicles; cleans minor hazardous spills; performs other duties when needed to assist the Sr. Mechanic and Mechanic in the operations of the department.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Basic knowledge in automotive repairs and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work under supervisory direction on diesel and gas engines
- Basic knowledge in the safe removal of hazardous spills
- Accuracy in recordkeeping Well organized
- Safety conscious
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently life up to 50 pounds
- Bending, stooping, working beneath vehicles on a frequent basis
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold during seasonal weather
- Exposure to common automotive odors from chemicals and gases
