Job Description:
• Places and maintains cable within underground conduit system;
• Places direct buried cable using plowing, digging, and trenching equipment;
• Installs and removes aerial cable, including installation of messenger strands and transfer of
cable and equipment from old poles to new poles; sets poles using a pole truck and digging and bracing equipment;
• Installs central office feeder and distribution cable;
• Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to supervisor;
• Cleans equipment;
• Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices; controls traffic at work sites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas as required or assigned;
• Performs other duties when needed to assist in the operations of the department.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Insurability with Company’s carrier
· Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently above head
· Adaptable to extreme degrees of weather conditions
· Must be willing to work Saturday and emergency callouts
· Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
· A positive attitude and the willingness to learn
· Will train to operate construction equipment
