Customer Service and Sales Representative – Rensselaer

Serves as primary point of contact for all customers, including former, existing, new and potential; Answers incoming calls and routes to the appropriate departments and personnel; Opens and closes sales and promotes services of the company while dealing with new and existing customers; attends expos, fairs, and other functions promoting the Company; assists customers with billing inquiries. Initiates and completes service orders for new service, disconnects, and other miscellaneous changes to customers’ accounts; investigates long-distance calls; investigates credit reference for new customers; receives and processes customer payments; reconciles cash drawers; prepares reports; attends departmental meetings upon request; cold calls to potential and existing customers; assist Sales and Marketing with surveys; track all customer contacts; performs other miscellaneous functions to assist in the operations of the department.

May be responsible for cross-trained duties in other departments as necessary and assigned by management. May be required to travel between the Rensselaer and Hebron offices at times. Rensselaer CSR responsible for the daily deposit.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must enjoy working in customer service and meeting the needs of customers
  • Friendly, courteous, patient and professional attitude in dealing with customers to promote a high degree of customer service
  • Basic knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel
  • Able to learn functions associated with processing service orders and customer payments
  • Ability to multi-task frequently on a daily basis
  • Display a professional appearance as well as maintain a professional office environment
  • Organizational skills to track service orders and ability to return to interrupted activity when multi-tasking
  • Analytical ability using common sense based thinking to resolve customer issues
  • Willingness to learn rules and regulations of telephony and adherence to applying them
  • Attentive to details; performs with a high degree of accuracy
  • Trustworthy and respectful of confidential information
  • Must be able to work harmoniously with others in a team spirited environment
  • Reliability to follow-up with incomplete assignments
  • Flexible in working scheduled hours as mandated by the Company and shared amongst the workgroup
  • Attendance dependability is paramount to the operations of the department.
